        ^ A tweet from our Chosen One President rising above the fray and unifying our bring prayer back to school Christian nation on April 30, 2020. What? Not a true statement? Well, if you don’t believe that then you should just take your liberal freedom and leave the nation! Your kind isn’t welcome here!

Focus

        ^ President Tweetybird is closing in on 50 tweets this morning. It seems like I remember his Republican Jesters saying that the impeachment is what kept him from being focused on the pandemic. Good to see that he has his priorities straightened out and focused on the right thing now.

        ^ Perhaps I should get out my handy calculator and do some number crunching and figure out mortality rates, infection rates and exposure rates in our neighborhood and apply them to the nation to see where we’re going from here because I think that I’m going to come up with some different numbers than all the scientists and experienced epidemiologists. Or not.

What time is it?!

        ^ It’s obvious that in large swaths of the country the people needing a haircut are going to win. They’re certainly winning around here. I went to pick up our groceries at Harter House. The parking lot was full. I was wearing a mask and gloves. The workers were wearing masks and gloves. That’s about it. Good to see that people are taking 64,000 dead seriously.

        ^ History from the Spanish Flu pandemic tells us that we’re all going to pay a price for this in the coming weeks.  They had their anti-mask people then as well. Forget staying home and social distancing. Too many people don’t have enough morality to even bother with wearing a mask. During the Spanish Flu pandemic history tells us that we can expect an uptick in deaths here in a few weeks. And since this is the land of the free where people can travel to other states to get haircuts the infection will start coming back in before it drops off.

        ^ It will drop off. We’ll catch a lull before it starts back up again in the Fall when the regular flu season kicks in. Now that part is a “probably”. It is possible that we could miss a second wave unlike what has happened with other virus spreads. The flu returns every year in case it isn’t clear what I’m talking about. The impact from that is that we’ll have more people dying from the flu than usual because of an over-burdened medical system.

Barbershop Quartets

        ^ Yet another reason that professionals are maintaining that deaths are being under reported is that when they compare the number of deaths that we usually have at this time the additional deaths are off the charts higher across the nation. Now this is where all those people with their personal calculators add things up and say that this really isn’t a big deal either because the percentage aren’t really all that much in the way of dead people and /or that they know someone that knows someone that has talked with a whole bunch of people that are on the front lines that say this whole thing is just an overblown-by-the-media-liberal-conspiracy meant to keep them out of barber shops.

        ^ BTW there were some doctors that during the flu pandemic said similar things. They were wrong to the tune of 650,000 dead. (I don’t think that we’ll hit anywhere near those numbers unless we really work at it.)

        ^ We now lead the world in deaths. U S A! U S A! What was it the Ducé’s son-in-law said that what they’ve accomplished is a success story? I’m not going to take the time to look it up. I’m just remembering that our Ducé said that all of us would be able to get a test. I’m certain that all of his Jesters will have a much better and much more technical explanation of what he really said and meant. Honestly he did not say that we would necessarily be alive when we got tested.

Rebound.

        ^ We’re already close to all of us knowing someone that has either had Ω  COVID-19 or Ω  SARS-CoV-2 or died from it. We should get to that point within the next couple of weeks. I still pray to God that won’t happen but sadly we’ve already lost too many people to keep believing that. I still pray. Why? Because God did not cause this. God is who I go to for comfort and understanding. Understanding is key because understanding is knowledge. Understanding is science. Science made possible because we have the ability to learn.

Pandemic Contact Tracing

Full circle

        ^ Years ago and by years I mean decades. We’re tripping back to the late 50s and early 60s. One of the couple that the folks played cards with was a nurse. Her job was to track down cases of sexually transmitted diseases.

        ^ I wasn’t old enough to be a part of this conversation. I was however old enough to find a place to listen in on the conversations of adults without being detected. Many small children possess this ability so parents be wary. (I had discovered a medical reference textbook that parents had and read way above my age group so I was technically knowledgeable way beyond my years.)

        ^ Anyway, the nurse was relating the culmination of a contact tracing that had taken months. (No she didn’t use names even then.) It started with one guy that she interviewed that had contracted syphilis. She got the names of who he had sexual contact with and then visited them. Then she found out who they had contact with and visited them. And so on and so on. She ended up talking with 180 people that had contracted the disease starting from just the one guy. The sad news. She ended back up with him. That’s right. The same guy that started it all ended up catching it again. One. Guy. One. Hundred. Eighty. People.

HIV/AIDS

        ^ Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). When AIDS came along it was widely regarded as a disease that affected gay people. Queers were deemed to be the primary target of the HIV virus. There were Evangelicals then that considered AIDS to be retribution from God. Then somebody thought to test prostitutes in Dade County in Florida and discovered that half of them had AIDS. Then people got interested.

        ^ One of the most effective PSAs that I heard then was that when a person had sex with someone they just had sex with every person that person had sex with. In other words if the person you were with had had sex with a person that had AIDS then it was possible that you could contract the disease without knowing it. Kind of sobering. AIDS is still out there. No cure has been discovered and there’s no vaccine. So there is still risk.

        ^ When I was in the service and stationed in Korea soldiers contracting venereal disease was a huge problem. At one time almost all the guys in my section were confined to base until they were cured of their venereal disease. I knew two married guys that went home with venereal disease. Yep, took it home to their wives. (BTW that wasn’t supposed to happen but it did.) My guess knowing these guys is that they would blame it on their wives. But that’s another story.

Confined.

        ^ Guys with sexually transmitted diseases were confined to base to limit their contact and spreading of the disease. Business girls that had it were banned from the enlisted club until they tested negative. Thursday was the day that “entertainers” for the EM club would get tested to be allowed to visit the EM club.

        ^ Since we were in the Army there was no expressed concerns for our Constitutional rights being violated. Uncle Sam owned us.

        ^ Quarantines are not new. They are used as a matter of public safety. The scope of this pandemic is certainly larger and more complex compounded by the incredible lack of leadership at the Federal level.

No one checked.

        ^ Contact tracing during a pandemic is a whole other ball game. Those tracking people down don’t have months to do their job. It has to be done fast and efficiently. People have to know what they’re doing and have a unique set of skills when it comes to getting the necessary information from people. They have to have their boots on the ground at the very beginning.

        ^ SARS-CoV-2 was spreading undetected and unchecked for weeks. People were spreading the disease without even knowing that they had it. There was no contact testing being coordinated nationwide. According to the President it was under control and would blow over. The disease had spread all over the globe. The warning signs were ignored. Good grief, it showed up at Mar a Lago and that wasn’t enough! I’m surprised that there isn’t a conspiracy theory tying Hillary Clinton’s emails to it.

        ^ Tests weren’t available in the beginning because it SARS-CoV-2 was new. SARS-CoV-2 is the scientific name for the virus now. The tests developed since then that are needed to detect have still not been distributed as was promised by the President early on. Widespread testing is needed for contact tracing to have success.

        ^ In the story that I shared in the beginning the guy that contracted the venereal disease was tested and came back positive for syphilis. In this pandemic people were tested and died before the results came back. At times it was days before the results were known.

“Will Circle be Unbroken?”

        ^ If the country can get to the place where adequate testing can be conducted to tell who has it and who had it without knowing then the country can begin to get a handle on it and better prepare for a second wave IF one comes. That is a big unknown. The virus can also mutate and become more lethal to a broader spectrum than oldsters and black people.

        ^ The one guy mentioned above spread disease to 180 people. One. Guy. This whole limiting crowd size to groups of 10 or less is arbitrary. Especially with an airborne virus. 10 is not some magic number that automatically confers safety upon those in the group. It still only takes one infected person to infect others. Staying 6 feet away from people is helpful but it is an airborne virus. Upwind? Downwind? Does it hang around in calm air just waiting for some unsuspecting person to walk into it? Keeping away from people as much as possible is what works.

        ^ Everybody wearing a mask would be incredibly helpful. Not likely though. Trump supporters and Republican Jesters on the whole think this is a hoax. Their primary concern is playing to their base and getting reelected.

        ^ The meme circulating that adds percentages to mask wearers versus non-mask wearers are not substantiated. However wearing masks is substantiated as reducing exposure. Obviously it can still happen. But we have the people claiming that they have a constitutional right not to do anything safe just because they don’t want to do it in their world view. Their right to not self-quarantine is more important than not killing you. It’s no different than those guys and gals that think that it’s funny to cough on people during a pandemic. They believe in the rule of law except for the ones that they don’t want to follow.

And then good people will die trying to take care of their sorry asses.

Pandemic Purse forward

4/21/20        ^ What makes me sad as I write these posts is that from the time I start one until I finish more deaths are added just from COVID-19. When I first started this one deaths were at 40,000; today they are over 45,000. There’s a staggering amount of heartache and sorrow in those numbers. Then add on all the stress and grief from those just trying to get through the day. It’s humbling.

        ^ It’s important to acknowledge that for so many they entered into this pandemic that were already on the ropes with crushing poverty. 40 million people. That’s where the bulk of the relief should have gone rather than to the rich and corporations. Republican Jesters like Lindsey Graham fretted about giving them more than they deserve.

        ^ The multi-millionaire man of the pauper über religious Evangelical Party leader Franklin Graham released a campaign message for his master President Trump. I have his message in its entirety at the end of this. I retrieved it from his Facebook page. I do want to say that it is honest of him to just openly campaign for the biblical Liar. I’m just glad to hear that he pays his taxes. His net worth is estimated to be between ten to twelve million dollars. He earns over a half million a year as the CEO of Samaritan’s Purse. He also draws a salary from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

        ^ Unlike the multimillionaire Pastors supporting the Liar the majority of pastors in this country do not live in mansions, have yachts or airplanes and don’t live in luxury including many that are openly supporting the Liar.

Franklin Graham’s message of unity:

        ^ “This is just my opinion, but in listening to the President’s enemies and the liberal media, it seems that they would like to see this shut-down drag out into the summer months and further weaken the economy—not to save lives—but to try to use this to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election.”

        ^ He’s kind of passive in going after “liberal media”. It just “seems” to him that’s what they’re doing. It would have to “seem” to him because there isn’t any factual basis for his claim. It’s just something that those from the Evangelical Party and Republican Jesters in general like to say along with their White Nationalists et al supporters. Trump’s base of core supporters is broad and deep.

What’s missing?

        ^ This is what really kind of gets to me and saddens me from the messaging of men like Graham and Trump—their lack of empathy and compassion for those that are suffering. As multi-millionaires they stress that we need to get business up and running. The Evangelical Party has their priorities.

More from Graham’s message: 

        ^ “We’ve got to get our country up and running before the economy and people’s lives are damaged even more.”

        ^ What did he put first? “…the economy…”

        ^ Graham needs those donation dollars to start flowing in again.

        ^ IDK but dead is pretty much beyond repair damaged. Yes we do have to get things going again but I haven’t seen any indication in the media that says they want to the shut-down to continue so that more people can die. What the media and citizens are pointing out is that the Liar needs to start acting like a President and take some responsibility. Media and citizens are saying that the Federal government needs to start doing its job. Media and citizens are telling the Liar to stop lying and endangering people. Media and we the people are telling the Liar to stop fomenting insurrection.

        ^ What the media and others are also pointing out is the complete failure of our government to respond adequately while the Liar continues talking about his ratings and patting himself on the back for doing such a good job. In a democracy that’s what media and people do.  

        ^ Media is trying to get this Administration to do all the things that they should be doing to turn things around and pointing out that TESTING for the virus is desperately needed. Even at this late stage of the pandemic our nation is only conducting a fraction of the testing that is needed to MOST IMPORTANTLY—SAVE LIVES, then to get this country back on its feet again!

Graham does seem to be focused on the election:

“They would like to go into this election, not with the strongest economy in 70 years, but with the weakest. What the impeachment didn’t do, they are hoping the coronavirus will.”

        ^ “They” meaning liberals, the media and Democrats want there to be more dead people.

        ^ The election is the focus of the Evangelical Party now. They have to get their Caesar reelected. They are his Pharisees. His power is their power.

        ^ The Liar has been non-stop campaigning since the first week that he took office right up until the pandemic hit. He held rallies throughout his first three years. He campaigns constantly through Twitter. He picks his targets and goes after them.

        ^ Then he realized that he could use pandemic updates to campaign and not have to pay a dime. He’s racking up hundreds of millions in free campaigning. The liar tells people every day what a wonderful job he’s doing and plays the victim.

        ^ He’s holding national rallies now and doesn’t even have to show up!

Campaign rallies without Trump

        ^ If the protestors thought or took the virus seriously they would be wearing masks. The majority aren’t. Passing it to someone else isn’t a concern to them. At. All.

        ^ Sweet deal, his subjects show up and he doesn’t even have to risk getting the virus. They think that it’s a hoax. Meanwhile he’s the brave General CIC embedded in the White House in front his TV merrily tweeting away.

        ^ Conservative groups called for protest rallies nationwide. The Liar’s core supporters hit the streets with campaign signs for Trump. Trump equals freedom! Liberate Virginia! Liberate Michigan! Liberate Minnesota! Bring your guns! Bring your kids! It’s not that big of a deal. Democracy is under attack! The libs want our guns! Keep golfing. Get haircuts. Bring your Confederate flags! The virus is a hoax!

        ^ That last line is the key. The virus is a hoax. I watched that clip where the Liar called it a hoax over and over from different angles and he meant the virus was a hoax and really the ultimate proof is the majority of his core group of followers believe that it’s a hoax. The death count of oldsters doesn’t warrant a shutdown. They’re okay with 45,000 bodies. Hell, they’re okay with 250,000 bodies. It’s the economy! The fact that it’s hitting people of color harder is just icing on the cake. (They really couldn’t have known that ahead of time.)

Cannon fodder

        ^ The Liar rallies taking place across the country will cost “X” number of additional lives. The only positive aspect is that families of the survivors will be able to sue the conservative groups that pulled the rallies together.

        ^ There just isn’t adequate compensation for those lost to ignorance. Innocent bystanders, probably more oldsters and people of color than young ones will lose their lives as well. Just a little necessary collateral damage for the Liar willing to happily sacrifice his own.

        ^ Honestly the Liar is a natural born campaigning genius. The one area that he truly excels in and he is formidable. He plays media like a fiddle. He plays his supporters even better. While the United States of America burns.

If he only had the slightest idea of how to be a President and lead the people.

I definitely agree that we all need to take precautions, wear masks, wash our hands, etc.; however, we also have to learn how to conduct business and keep production going during a pandemic. This is just my opinion, but in listening to the President’s enemies and the liberal media, it seems that they would like to see this shut-down drag out into the summer months and further weaken the economy—not to save lives—but to try to use this to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election. They would like to go into this election, not with the strongest economy in 70 years, but with the weakest. What the impeachment didn’t do, they are hoping the coronavirus will. Pray for our country and for the President, that God will give Him wisdom.”
