Trust women!

Women’s choice wins!

The people of Kansas voted to place a woman’s right to decide what to do with her own body first.  I must admit that in regard to the people of Kansas voting down the amendment to change their state Constitution to prevent any kind of abortion being allowed surprised me.  Polling had shown an edge to the yes vote.  The vote wasn’t even close to being close either.

My wife and I used to live in Kansas.  It’s a deep red conservative state.[1]  The vote spread was a surprise.  Freedom of choice won by a 59% to 41% margin.[2]  Since 2014 four states have succeeded in passing a similar Constitutional amendment.[3]  This was prior to the Trump Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

Any more it seems to go without saying that Trump Republican Party conservatives played dirty in advocating and misrepresenting what the proposed amendment would accomplish.  State level Trump Republican Party MAGA heads aren’t any different than those at the top of the heap.  They’ll refuse to accept the results.

They will continue to pursue their goals.

Fetal Personhood[4]

What the Pro-Trump Republican Party Evangelical MAGA heads will do next is continue their goal to have a fetus declared a person by the Trump Supremes.  What happened in Kansas won’t change that.  Theirs is a multi-pronged approach.

If they succeed in getting fetal personhood established at the federal level they can impose bans from the top down.  That includes bans on contraceptives because they believe that personhood somehow begins not only at conception but “pre-conception” as well.  Now, what in the world does that mean?!  It means that they consider an unfertilized egg’s rights as being the same as a fertilized egg (zygote).  Catholicism best expresses the view supported by Trump Evangelicals.[5]  Without getting into this too deep masturbation can also end up being a mortal sin for Catholics but in the real world that would be a little hard to police.[6]  So, Evangelicals will continue to focus their efforts on policing the activities of women.

They are the most vulnerable to their ministrations.
