I got mine!

(1.75-minute read.)

Some more comments about the Supreme Court.

That was then.

Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas went to Yale Law School thanks to affirmative action and said so.[1]  He didn’t equivocate.  True, this was a time before he was a justice and hadn’t been sought out yet by right-wing billionaires to be groomed with expensive gifts.[2]  Amazing how hob-knobbing with white billionaires can change one’s perspective on life.

Now Thomas has joined with his fellow white justice conservatives in rolling times back to the 1940s or earlier.  Halcyon times for being white in America.  (A time when people of color didn’t thumb rides from white people.) Time before the Affirmative Action that made his career possible.  A time when interracial marriage was frowned upon.[3]  Thomas didn’t marry him a rich white woman (Virginia Lamp, aka Ginni, a conservative activist who eventually would help to try and overthrow our form of government) until 1987.[4]

In their hearings Justice Kavanaugh lied and Justice Barrett hedged in answering questions about overturning “settled law.”  The Trump Court hasn’t actually hesitated to overturn what’s called “settled law”.[5]  Like Roe v. Wade or Affirmative Action.  With what the Trump court has done there is no longer any such thing as settled law now.  AND the Trump court is going to be around for a long looooong time.  The Trump court will be damaging our nation for decades as they make America whiter again, reworking the Constitution to suit the needs of MAGA White Christian fascist conservatives.

So, Thomas got his.  He’s rich.  Got billionaire sugar daddies watching over him as well as their other helpers.  The rest of the court is doing reeeeeal well too.  Making themselves some millions they are.[6]  Yes indeedy.  With the exception of Ketanji Brown Jackson, the newest addition, they’re all millionaires.[7]  Chief Justice Roberts is worth anywhere from 9 million to 27 million and that doesn’t count his house.  Justices only have to provide financial ranges of income.  They all are paid 6 figure salaries from the government.  Then there are the book deals and side gigs that they have.  In simple terms the Trump Supremes are wealthy.[8]  Judges don’t come cheap.

This is now.
