Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has long been a darling of Trump Conservatives. He’s scheduled to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) being held in Dallas, Texas August 4th. CPAC held their first meeting in Europe in Budapest, Hungary back in May.[1] Orban spoke to them there as well.
Why are Trump Republicans so enthralled about PM Orban talking to them? Here’s a quote from Orban that might help explain things.[2]
“We [Hungarians] are not a mixed race … and we do not want to become a mixed race,” said Orbán on Saturday. He added that countries where European and non-Europeans mingle were “no longer nations”.
Hungary also has anti-gay laws patterned after the ones Putin has in Russia and the Trump Republican Evangelicals are instituting here in America. Orban also likes walls to keep the brown skinned hordes out. He also doesn’t support Ukraine.[3] Orban believes that they should negotiate with the Russian invaders. (That worked so well stopping Hitler.) He’s getting rid of any media opposition to his rule. He’s establishing a “Christian” dictatorship. PM Orban has even provided a 12 point recipe for achieving Christian Nationalist goals.[4] What’s not for Trump Republicans to like?
A Putin style “Christian” nation.
