Party on!
What is that agenda? Good question! I’m glad you asked. It’s whatever Trump says it is and whatever he wants. And what Trump really wants is money and power like Putin. He isn’t a complicated man any more than he is a moral man.
It’s probably way past time that we stop using all the cute alternative names for what used to be the Republican Party and start calling it what it is—The Trump Party. Honestly, he’s earned it. The Republican Party is dead; long live the new Party. New name. New agenda.
Same Trump.
About those primaries
For all the claims of a stolen election by the Trumpers the Republican Party really did pretty well in the 2020 election. Too bad they lost their party. A lot of down ballot Republicans did well even though Trump lost, AND he did lose. The one simple thing that MAGA heads could never wrap their minds around is that Republicans on the same ballot as Trump won. What that meant is that tens of thousands of Republicans didn’t vote for Trump but did vote for other Republicans on the same ballot.
During the mid-term primaries this year the majority of candidates that Trump supported won. For Trump the first and main requirement for his endorsement was the publicly professed belief that the election was stolen from him. The second is that they must show fealty to Trump. Some stunning candidates won. Yeah, stunning is a good word to use. Whatever the case. Trump was victorious. The Party is his.
About those midterms
The test for where the country goes from here will be the midterm elections this November. Historically the party of the President doesn’t do well. The Trump Party lost control of the House during Trump’s second two years as Presidency. The candidates that Trump supported who won their primaries will go up against democrats. In mostly red states democrats wouldn’t have had much of a chance anyway.
However, Trump supported candidates in some key battleground states, especially in the Senate, that are uniquely unqualified. What was it Moscow Mitch said? Oh yeah, He said this:
“I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different — they’re statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.”[1]
LOL.
Moscow Mitch is saying that to run for the House of Representatives quality candidates aren’t necessary. Seems obvious. More class warfare! Well, considering Boebert, Greene, McCarthy, Gohmert, Jordan, and others. it looks like he is correct. Vote for crazy. You get crazy.
Does McConnell know who the Senate candidates are? Trump also brought forth candidates like Herschel Walker who has difficulty being coherent (BTW, he’s leading in the most recent poll.) and qualifies as a carpet bagger of old along with TV personality Dr. Oz, a candidate that didn’t know how many houses he owned. (He owned 10, including property in Turkey.) I could spend pages of words with video clip links to all the Trump Party lack of redeeming qualities candidates but it really is a waste of time. Why? Trumpers don’t care. They’re never going to care.
Except for their Fuhrer.
A story. (One that I’ve told before.)
When I worked at a large aerospace company we once had a new an upper level manager assigned over our area. He was unique in that he had a beard and wore gold chains around his neck. Within a few months the lower-level managers were sprouting beards and also wearing gold chains. They wanted to emulate the boss; be like the boss. The upper-level boss ended up having an affair with a shop worker. But that’s another story.
The point is that those that are in the Trump Party want to be like Trump. Look like him. Talk like him. Act like him.
Threaten like him.
The MAGA Plan.
I am going to go into more detail because we are seeing the Trump Party agenda in real time. But simply put they want to Make America Great Again by tearing America apart. And if they don’t get their way, they’ll tear America apart. If they do get their way they’ll tear America apart.
Truthfully, perhaps it was only subliminally, Moscow Mitch McConnell saw it coming back in December 2021 when he said that the Republican Party wasn’t going to have an announced agenda for the midterm elections.[2] Truth is he always thought agendas were harmful to Republicans getting elected. After all, if you tell people what you want it could lead to unrealistic expectations, or terror. Anyway, they have an agenda now. It’s the
