(2.25-minute read.)
I am a veteran. I enlisted in the Army in 1966 for a 4-year hitch.
Photo op over dead bodies.
There were a lot of words that I could have used in the title but disrespectful seemed to be most appropriate. The rapist felon Trump using the Arlington cemetery for a campaign photo op is disrespectful to those that are interred there. Trump has already done a campaign video with video taken at Arlington.[1]
Trump is a traitor to our nation who staged a violent coup in an attempt to stay in power. He tried to overturn the results of an election that he lost. The rapist Trump had no business desecrating Arlington National Cemetery to make campaign videos and photo ops. He dishonors our nation and what America is supposed to stand for.
The men and women that are buried at Arlington National Cemetery are ethnically diverse, queer and straight, from every walk of life and political affiliation.[2] Campaigning there is forbidden by law. Any fucking moron should have enough fucking common sense to know that. But no, NOT MAGA. NOT TRUMP. Even though they were warned ahead of time.[3]
Arlington is the final resting place for those that have served our nation in peace and in war. It should be a somber place.
It’s hallowed ground.
Trump has a history of dishonor.
The rapist Trump and accompanying campaign staff and others violated the Hatch Act by using the cemetery for a campaign opportunity. The policy of the Arlington National Cemetery is clearly stated.[4] The problem. The Hatch Act has no teeth for men like Trump. No punishment for violators that aren’t employees of the Federal, State or Local governments. It’s as if being found out violating the Act is enough of a humiliation for others. For those like Trump without shame or remorse it isn’t.
From the time that the rapist Trump defamed Senator John McCain to this very day, Trump has dishonored veterans. Trump dishonored veterans when he avoided the draft because of non-existent bone spurs.[5] [6] He dishonored veterans when he said that him awarding the civilian Presidential Medal of Freedom to his donors was a bigger honor than the military Medal of Honor because recipients were often physically messed up.[7] Meaning they weren’t always pretty to look at because of the injuries that they received in war.
Only two Presidents are buried at Arlington. William Howard Taft and John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Trump can be buried there if he decides that he doesn’t want to be buried at a golf course alongside the first wife that he cheated on. Just think, a man that calls veterans suckers and losers can be buried alongside honorable men and women that served our nation and democracy well.[8]
Ironic, isn’t it?
