Shock Day

Name change.

We may have to come with a new name or some different names when we refer to this November 3rd. What happens is going to be shocking to and for a LOT of people of every party and persuasion. People around the globe will be shocked as well. Perhaps astounded is a better word. Shock? Awe? I’m kinda sorry that Day of the Dead is already taken. Maybe not. It’s going to be quite the day. It’s going to be a long day but a movie already used the title up for that one. It all comes down to being….

Time to finish up.

New ball game

The pandemic has turned things inside out and upside down in regards to what will happen on shock day. Record breaking early voting. Record breaking mail in ballots. Record breaking absentee ballots. Record breaking lawsuits by Republicans. Hundreds of thousands of ballots stacked up at USPS mail processing centers. (Done on purpose by Trump.) Did they get delivered in time? All of this taking place in a system not designed for this kind of voting. Some states will be counting votes for weeks.

While it seems to be generally accepted by real world residents that President Trump will lose the popular vote AGAIN, what will happen in the Electoral College is another matter entirely.

A beginning, an ending and a continuing

Really the kind of day that Tuesday will be can apply to either candidate or their respective followers. It’s one thing to expect a certain outcome and quite another to live it. The day is rife with potential along with the fog of not knowing for sure what’s happening and the chaos that we have come to expect the day to have.

In general, election forecasters indicate that early results are NOT necessarily an indicator of what is taking place as to who is winning and who is losing. While statistics as to probability aren’t provided it’s the sheer weight of mail in ballots that provide a limitation as to how fast they can be tallied.

Republicans already have something in the neighborhood of 300 lawsuits to suppress votes from Democrats and toss mailed in ballots. Any kind of mailed in ballot. Except for Florida. Trump wants mailed in ballots there. Trump’s Supremes will back him as much as they can justify.

Apparently it even looks like to Republican leadership, and I use that term loosely, that they’re going to lose the popular vote AGAIN so they’re going to try using the courts to steal the election with the Electoral College.

If it looks like Trump is losing Fox Pravda viewers aren’t going to know it. Remember their election night reporting with President Obama? That’s when Kelly went down to their election war room and asked them directly why they couldn’t or wouldn’t call it. Fox Pravda hasn’t gotten better since then.

Even if the results aren’t known it’s going to be quite a day.

An aside.

BTW, Kavanaugh got called out on an incorrect citation in his opinion. He gave a citation that was the opposite of what he decided. Sloppy work has been a hallmark of the Trump Administration. Statements issued with misspellings and/or bad grammar. Trump regularly uses the worng words (Did that on purpose.) like hydrosonic instead of hypersonic. It’s not that big a deal except he claims that he’s a genius, uses nothing but the best words and appoints the best people.

President Trump is so impressed with his candidacy that he invested ZERO dollars of his own money in his campaign. ZERO dollars. He used all rube money according to the FEC filings made to date. A billionaire that wouldn’t invest in himself.

He obviously knows a bad investment.

Forecast

Trump will continue tweeting that he has already won and that mailed in ballots are bad. If he loses, look for him to immediately claim that the election was stolen. Also look for him to be doing a lot of rage tweeting and inciting like he usually does, but at much higher levels. I believe that it’s quite possible that he will attain a personal best in the number of tweets.

It will not be surprising if it takes a couple of days to have a pretty good idea of who the winner of the election will be. The critical state seems to be Pennsylvania. If Trump wins Pennsylvania then his chances of getting reelected go way up. There are numerous other possibilities for a path to moving vans being involved.

Monkey in the machine.

Trump, his cronies, the Iranians, the Chinese Government the Republican Party, and his Russian handlers along with his cult followers have done their level best to screw up this election. This coming Tuesday, November 3rd we’ll all find out how successful they have been. Trump has maintained all along that the election should be decided on November third without counting all of the people’s votes. He believes that early returns will show him leading. He may very well be right.

That’s not the way it works.

Votes decide the election.

All the people’s votes are supposed to be counted or at least as many as is possible before the Supreme Court decides who the President will be. That’s only happened once and the guy that they declared the winner ended up losing the vote when all was said and done. BUT he still got to be President.

Funny old world at times.

Count yourself in.

Here’s where we’re at.

I have been writing about Trump since before he was elected the first time. This would have been during the time when he was given hundreds of millions of dollars of free air time by all the media that he now derides.

About Trump.

Yes I know that I’ve said that Trump is going to get reelected. I’ve said it at least a couple of times. Maybe more. I’ll probably write about him another half dozen times between now and November 3rd. Final Vote day with a few exceptions by state and the Supreme Court. The USSC may or may not vote in this election.

Just do something.

People have the power to create change, to participate. If even half of the impoverished in this country voted there would be more frequent changing of the guard at the top.

There are all sorts of platitudes that are offered up to get non-voters to vote. I’ll probably offer up a few myself. But mainly people just need to get off their ass and do something.

What have you got to lose?

What have you got to lose? The President likes to say that when trying to get people to vote for him. Well vote to lose him to the trash pile of history. (What you’ve got to lose is your job, Social Security, your health care – if you’re lucky enough to have it in the first place.)

People offer up all sorts of reasons for not voting. Whatever the excuse is then change it. If someone says that their vote doesn’t make a difference than they need to join others that say that they don’t make a difference and vote. Enough of them voting will make a difference.

YOU make a difference.

I vote because.

If nothing else you can say I voted against evil. That’s good enough for me. I like knowing that even if no one else knows it.

If you’ve lost your job vote against the Republicans that put you out of work. If you don’t have insurance or are about to lose it vote out the republicans that did that to you.

If you don’t want religion imposed upon you vote against Republicans.

If you think eating is a fundamental right vote against Republicans.

If you think that brown children shouldn’t be taken from their parents vote against Republicans.

If you think that people come before money vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

If you value your life and the lives of your friends, family and loved ones vote against any Republican seeking office.

Biden wasn’t my first choice, but on his worst possible day, he’s a better man than Trump on his very best day. Recognize the evil that Trump embodies and stop looking for excuses why you can’t vote for Biden.

Vote Blue!

Some people

 https://get.pxhere.com/photo/time-losing-clock-pocket-close-up-watch-macro-photography-font-1434763.jpg

What did you do during the time?

I watched Samuel L. Jackson say this in an election ad.

“If your vote didn’t matter they wouldn’t try so hard to take it from you.”

The votes of minorities and poor people have been suppressed for generations. It still happens today. For the last few decades Republicans have been doing their level best to change the status to their being the only ones with the status and the quo.

Life happens.

Some people are in an abusive relationship with life. Life just happens to them. They just go through it. They don’t know how to end or get away from the abuse. It can be hard. Real hard. It can become a way of life.

Right now President Trump along with his cult are abusing our entire country and many of those that interact with us. They are starving out the people that lost their jobs, while giving tens of billions to the wealthy.

Our nation is in the chaos of abuse.

Back in the day.

I ran for office in a small town a few times. Got elected a couple of times. When I campaigned I used the voter registration lists. I was primarily interested in talking with people that voted. People that did something even if it was for only one day. Voters were scarce as hen’s teeth in economically depressed or lower income areas.

One conversation really stayed with me. I knocked on the door to talk with a registered voter that actually voted on a regular basis. A guy answered the door who was not the person that voted; that was his wife. She voted every time, NOT just the Presidential election. I told him who I was and what I was running for and he was off!

He went on ad infinitum about everything that was wrong and what needed to be done about it. It took him awhile but he finally wound down. I asked him if his wife was available for me to talk with.

“Nah! She don’t care!”

 Cause and effect.

When we do something. Something happens. Sometimes bad. Sometimes good. Sometimes not much.

235 million people are eligible to vote in the 2020 election. (Not all are registered.)

In 2018 there were 153 million registered voters.

In 2016 almost 139 million voted. (55% of those eligible)

Trump got 62,984,828 votes. Clinton got 65,853,514 votes. Trump won with 46.1% of the popular vote to Clinton’s 48.2% (The polls predicted her 2% lead.)

Not only are all people eligible to vote not registered, but all the people that are registered to vote don’t vote either. So when you see the voter turnout just keep in mind that number isn’t reflective of all the people who could have voted.

The majority of people in mighty patriotic America don’t vote.

This is why we had 40 million people living in poverty pre-pandemic. We could be well over 50 million by now.

The majority of people living in America will live their entire lives without voting.

Voting doesn’t matter. Especially if you don’t vote.

Republicans LOVE the non-voters! Especially the non-voting poor!

The good. The bad. The Internet.

Is the internet and social media a curse or a blessing?

The jury is still out.

And the jury is going to be out for quite awhile yet. It largely depends if civilization gets a handle on social media and NOT like the Chinese and Russians are doing it and as Trump would like to do it. No criticism allowed!

Reach out and touch someone.

As citizens we have the opportunity now to reach out way beyond anything that was possible before. AND we can do it much faster. For instance this little piddly blog of mine has an international reach thanks to the internet. I can also directly support people seeking office in other states. We are currently doing what little we can in various contests.

Those little bits add up when enough people do them.

  Joe Biden of course. https://joebiden.com/#

Nicole Galloway for Missouri Governor. https://nicolegalloway.com/

Mark Kelly is running for the Senate in Arizona. https://markkelly.com/

Theresa Greenfield is going for the Senate in Iowa. https://greenfieldforiowa.com/

  Jill Schupp in Kansas. https://www.jillschupp.com/home

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, In the House in NYC. https://www.ocasiocortez.com/

Joyce Elliot for the House seat in Arkansas. https://www.joyceelliott.com/

Did this from an easy chair.

Didn’t even have to leave the house.

            It’s that easy.

What did you do during the time when it could have made a difference? Got someone you’re interested in?

Do something.

Good people.

For some people doing the right thing for the right reason is good enough. At one time that was a good enough reason ….

For some people.
