Just some scripture

Is Trump the “Chosen One” that Evangelicals claim he is or is he the Anit-Christ? Or is he just a man that lied his way to being President?

The bible is a fascinating book. I have picked some scripture from biblegateway.com, available on the internet. (Incidentally there were 170 variations/interpretations of bibles to choose from.) These scriptures were referenced by another person in an online blog that they wrote about why Trump is the anti-Christ. I’m going to pass the scriptures along without any commentary. At least I’ll try. You probably know how I am by now. Okay, perhaps I’ll provide a few notes.

Quick reference: The Message, MSG; English Standard Version, ESV; English Revised Version, ERV; New Revised Standard Version, NRSV; King James Version, KJV

Revelation 13: 5-6

NRSV 5 The beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.

Daniel 8:25

NRSV By his cunning he shall make deceit prosper under his hand, and in his own mind he shall be great. Without warning he shall destroy many and shall even rise up against the Prince of princes.

But he shall be broken, and not by human hands.

Daniel 11:24

MSG “‘His place will be taken by a reject, a man spurned and passed over for advancement. He’ll surprise everyone, seemingly coming out of nowhere, and will seize the kingdom. He’ll come in like a steamroller, flattening the opposition. Even the Prince of the Covenant will be crushed. After negotiating a cease-fire, he’ll betray its terms. With a few henchmen, he’ll take total control. Arbitrarily and impulsively, he’ll invade the richest provinces. He’ll surpass all his ancestors, near and distant, in his rape of the country, grabbing and looting, living with his cronies in corrupt and lavish luxury.

ERV “When the richest countries feel safe, that cruel and hated ruler will attack them. He will attack at just the right time and will be successful where his ancestors were not successful. He will take things from the countries he defeated, and he will give them to his followers. He will plan to defeat and destroy strong cities. He will be successful—but only for a short time.

Quite a bit of difference between the versions, don’t you think? Check out the King James Version.

KJV He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

My first bible was a KJV red letter edition given to me by my grandmother. I enjoy it but it is harder to read. I had a little KJV pocket bible containing just the New Testament that I carried with me while I was in the Army. It kept me going during some tough challenges.

Daniel 11:21

NRSV In his place shall arise a contemptible person on whom royal majesty had not been conferred; he shall come in without warning and obtain the kingdom through intrigue.

ESV In his place shall arise a contemptible person to whom royal majesty has not been given. He shall come in without warning and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

Daniel 11:23

NRSV And from the time that an alliance is made with him he shall act deceitfully, and he shall become strong with a small people.

Daniel 11:25

NRSV He shall stir up his power and determination against the king of the south with a great army, and the king of the south shall wage war with a much greater and stronger army. But he shall not succeed, for plots shall be devised against him.

Daniel 11:28

NSRV He shall return to his land with great wealth, but his heart shall be set against the holy covenant. He shall work his will, and return to his own land.

Daniel 11:32

NIV With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.

    Seriously! How cool is that?

NRSV He shall seduce with intrigue those who violate the covenant; but the people who are loyal to their God shall stand firm and take action.

Hm, not quite the same. Doesn’t have quite the spirit as the NIV version.

Daniel 11:39

NRSV He shall deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god. Those who acknowledge him he shall make more wealthy, and shall appoint them as rulers over many, and shall distribute the land for a price.

Daniel 11:44

NRSV But reports from the east and the north shall alarm him, and he shall go out with great fury to bring ruin and complete destruction to many.

Matthew 24:24

NRSV For false messiahs[a] and false prophets will appear and produce great signs and omens, to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

1 Thessalonians 2:10

MSG You remember us in those days, friends, working our fingers to the bone, up half the night, moonlighting so you wouldn’t have the burden of supporting us while we proclaimed God’s Message to you. You saw with your own eyes how discreet and courteous we were among you, with keen sensitivity to you as fellow believers. And God knows we weren’t freeloaders! You experienced it all firsthand. With each of you we were like a father with his child, holding your hand, whispering encouragement, showing you step-by-step how to live well before God, who called us into his own kingdom, into this delightful life.

A shorter way to say it.

ESV You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers.

2nd Thessalonians 2:4

ESV who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

2nd Thessalonians 2:9

NSRV The coming of the lawless one is apparent in the working of Satan, who uses all power, signs, lying wonders,

Can’t have one without the other. This is probably the time to bring up that DJT’s son-in-law sold a 99 year lease on 666 5th Ave. They still own the land beneath. Heh. Heh. Closer to home?

2nd Thessalonians 2:10

NSRV and every kind of wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

Zechariah 11:16

ESV Then the Lord said to me, “Take once more the equipment of a foolish shepherd. 16 For behold, I am raising up in the land a shepherd who does not care for those being destroyed, or seek the young or heal the maimed or nourish the healthy, but devours the flesh of the fat ones, tearing off even their hoofs.

NRSV For I am now raising up in the land a shepherd who does not care for the perishing, or seek the wandering,[a] or heal the maimed, or nourish the healthy,[b] but devours the flesh of the fat ones, tearing off even their hoofs.

MSG 15-16 God then said, “Dress up like a stupid shepherd. I’m going to install just such a shepherd in this land—a shepherd indifferent to victims, who ignores the lost, abandons the injured, and disdains decent citizens.

He’ll only be in it for what he can get out of it, using and abusing any and all."
