Trade War Round 1.5

            Trump has started trade wars with our allies. IF the Führer can’t find a way to back down from his tariffs and save face, we’re in for a rough ride economically.

            Originally, I was going to title this as Round Two but Trump folded like a cheap suit before the round even got started.[1] Others might be more inclined to say that Trump folded like a fitted sheet but either way he FOLDED.

Führer Trump tried to save face like he did when he first started the Trade War and simply declare that he was victorious and that the enemy nations (aka formerly our allies) conceded. Kind of. Look, he changes what’s tariffed and what isn’t on a daily basis. He changes the percentages and implementation dates. You can go to the footnote at the end of this sentence if you want a detailed explanation.[2] The bottom line is it’s creating a financial mess because the Führer’s administration does things and then tries to figure out what they’ve done afterwards because they don’t know what they’re doing in the first place. M’kay?

Financial markets want stability.

This ain’t it.

Who knows?

            Today at the grocery store a dozen eggs cost $10. Prices will vary depending upon where you buy your eggs. The price may be up or down tomorrow. Who knows?! What other things are going to cost a LOT more? Who knows? That’s where MAGA has brought us as a nation. Who knows?

Prior to the election MAGA Republicans said that the increase in egg prices was Biden’s fault. After the election MAGA Republicans said that it was avian flu virus that’s causing the rise in egg prices and it’s still Biden’s fault. I guess because he killed all the chickens personally or created the avian flu virus in Wuhan, China by the genetic manipulation of transgender chickens?

Trump’s Co-President Musk, at Trump’s direction, fired the people who were trying to find a way to deal with the avian virus that’s driving the increased cost of eggs.[3] And during the Führer Trump’s State of the Union speech he was back to blaming Biden for the price of eggs. Because that’s how we Make America Great Again. Blame Biden. Blame everyone else. It’s the MAGA way.

People at the Mexican border are now sneaking eggs into the country.[4] The problem is that’s illegal and the eggs are being confiscated.[5] So, in the midst of a trade war the United States is looking to import eggs from a former ally. Yeah, that’s going to work out well.

Anyway, we’re back to it being Biden’s fault.

            Canada started pulling all American liquor from shelves.[6] So, if they sell it back to us will it cost more? I ask because it looks to me like we’re going to be needing a lot more alcohol in the coming months. The Jack Daniels could come in handy. Did you know that JD is owned by Brown-Forman, a global corporation?[7]

            Buying our own products is going to cost us more money when foreign sourced products from countries that we are in a trade war with are used. As an example the pet food that I buy is made in the USA but contains foreign sourced products.[8] [9] [10] You will find similar examples as you go up the manufacturing chain, including in the auto industry.[11] Thanks to years of outsourcing, aerospace giant Boeing couldn’t put planes together without foreign content from all over the world.[12]

            Canada put tariffs on their petroleum exports. Gas prices will start going up for several northern states along with the cost of electricity.[13] There is lag time built in on all of the things that depend upon foreign sourcing. Countries hostile to our nation and culture like China will also be increasing the costs of goods but I’m thinking those higher costs will take months before they kick in rather than weeks. Food costs will continue to rise because of a double hit coming from the lack of cheap immigrant labor and tariffs.

            We have years of social and economic unrest coming our way.
