Appreciation

As we get to be a certain age, we learn how precious time is as we wind down. Thank you for spending some of your precious time reading the words of an oldster.

            I want those of you that subscribe to my Substack or visit my blog to know that I appreciate you taking the time to read what I produce during these difficult times. Especially since there are so many others to choose from. There are a lot of excellent journalists and writers out there in the ether. Not as many retired factory workers providing their perspective on events though.

            This brings us to another point. I don’t know what your email inbox is like but mine is swamped. Stuff pours in. Too much. I can’t begin to get through it all. I sift through all of the possible topics and try to pick one from the chaos. Chaos is the point. Shock is the point. Overwhelming citizens is the point. Fear is the point.

            Oldsters or anyone dependent upon a government check like Social Security, retired veterans or assistance for that matter are particularly vulnerable. By seizing complete control of all government agencies the Führer and his underlings can punish individuals personally all the way down to the local level. All he has to do is cut off Social Security checks or government benefits. All that we can do is make noise.

Let’s make noise.

1984, the book.

            If I remember correctly in the movie made of the book “1984” by George Orwell there was a scene where what had happened in the real world was being rewritten because the government decided that a different message was needed concerning an event that had taken place. We are seeing that happening now on a regular basis. Just watch MAGA Republicans denying what they said and then getting called out for it. But the record will reflect the lie. It doesn’t make any difference. The MAGA cult believes the last thing they heard from their Minister of Untruth.

            We are quickly approaching a time when information and the truth is going to have to be by word of mouth. A recent story about Elon Musk highlights the problem that we’re going to have with information coming out of government agencies. As just one small example, First Führer Trump’s government (State Department) said that they were going to buy $400 million worth of armored Tesla vehicles. Then they changed the wording to say electric car manufacturer.[1] The department now says the order is on hold after they got caught.

The foxes are in the hen house.
